Gold Coast Coolangatta (OOL) Airport is a domestic
and international airport serving the city of Gold Coast
and the capital of Queensland, Brisbane (Australia),
from which it is situated around 100 km (62 mi) away.
The airport is a hub for Jetstar Airways and SEAIR
Pacific. It is also the sixth most crowded Australian
airport, with a number of 5,479,255 passengers handled
in the last year.
The airport enjoys a good reputation, since it was rewarded two times, as it follows: on 26 October 2010, it received the Major Airport of the Year Award from the Australian Airport Association (AAA) and on 30 March 2011 it was named the Best Regional Airport in Pacific. On this occasion, the airport also obtained the Staff Service Excellence Australia/Pacific award in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In terms of infrastructure, the airport has two terminals, the second one hosting Tiger Airways Australia. This is a low-cost terminal that operates with basic facilities and is situated about 200m (600 ft) from the main terminal building (i.e. Terminal 1).
As the name suggests it, the airport is situated on the coast, more precisely on the Pacific Coast. It is a gate towards an authentic paradise that will introduce you to the beauty of wildlife. The attractions offered include, among others, Thunderbird Park and OzBall. The area is also characterized by dynamism, since it will provide tourists with plenty of activities, for instance safaris or surfing. If you are seeking a suitable accommodation, it will be guaranteed by Gold Coast Coolangatta (OOL) Airport Hotels, your thoughtful host.
